Of all the recent technological gadgets to hit the market, the iPad is one of the most exciting. Maybe not in its current form, which although loved by early adopters, is likely to be significantly bettered in later versions.
What the iPad does is change the game in terms of mobile devices. Phones and netbooks were always too small to be truly good web experiences, whereas the iPad, with its touch screen, gives a good and satisfying level of interactivity with the object itself, along with a great visual experience and a good size of screen. It is, as Steve Jobs said way back in January when he first showed the machine ti the world, "immersive".
What the iPad means for users is that a whole lot of choice will soon be on the way via the app store. Everything from fun games to Hollywood ephemera to goodnesss knows what will soon be on the move with the iPad user. And what with these machines being affordable, there's going to be a lot of them around.
All of this is of course, great. Great if you're into technology and sjhiny gadgets and staying connected and all the rest of it. maybe not so great if you're a technophobe. But what does it mean for business? It's long been the case that you can easily do your shopping over the internet, get a  health insurance quote, and all the rest of it, so the internet's definitely helped with healthy eating and financial/ insurance advice.
But what interests me is how the new-found immediacy of the net by way of iPad and similar devices will affect the way we interact with organisations such as newspapers, etc.  If we pay for more content will we use the tablet for fewer types of activity? Will we find that more help and support is available than is traditionally the case? The internet after all did become popular when everyone was using a desktop PC and a dialup connection.
Maybe the only thing that could limit us now is the size of our imagination?
